The subframe (beam) is connected to the car body via rubber-metal hinges (2, Fig. 14.2), and through transverse, guide, integral and swing arms, with the hub (1) of the rear wheel.

The wheels are driven by four levers (4, 6, 11 and 15, Fig. 14.3), elastically connected to the subframe, which in turn is elastically connected to the body. The lever system and wheels are positioned so that, together with the rubber-metal supports, they provide a precisely calculated steering effect when maneuvering the car. The vertical vibrations of the rear axle are damped by springs, shock absorbers or pneumatic shock absorber struts. The rear wheel hubs are mounted on two tapered roller bearings.

The electronic control system determines, with the help of two sensors, the actual height of the body above the road and, if necessary, connects the compressor, pumping air into the struts. Due to the increase in pressure, with increasing load, the regulator not only ensures constant ground clearance, but also comfortable shock absorption when driving, regardless of the vehicle load.
The general layout of the rear axle and suspension (Fig. 14.1) and their design are clearly visible in Figure 14.2 and Figure 14.3.
Attention! Welding and straightening work on the rear axle beam is prohibited.
The rear suspension is made entirely of aluminum alloy, so the following measures must be taken:
- do not allow the suspension to come into contact with the battery electrolyte:
- to clean the suspension, use only a brass or stainless steel metal brush;
- cover the suspension to prevent sparks from abrasive cutting tools and electric welding from getting on it when processing body parts during repair and restoration work;
- do not expose suspension components to temperatures above +80°C.
The gear ratios of the final drive (FDR) of a vehicle equipped with a gearbox (manual/automatic) are as follows:
- "3.0і" 4,10 / 4,10;
- "4.4i" – / 4,10;
- "4.6is" – / 3,91;
- "3.0d" – / 3,73.
The lateral clearance in the engagement of the main gear is 0.06–0.14 mm.
Drive gear flange runout, no more than 0.07 mm.
