Attention! Perform work on replacing the seal on a cold engine, as there is a risk of burns from the exhaust system.
The design of the output shaft (half-shaft) of the rear wheel drive is shown in Figure 14.16. The half-shafts differ in diameter (27 or 31 mm), depending on the vehicle configuration.

The replacement of the differential output flange seal must be carried out in the following order. Prepare the tools "00.5.010", "00.5.500", "32.1.00" and "33.4.240". Loosen the bolts (3) securing the CV joint of the drive shaft and remove the locking plates (2). Disconnect the wheel drive shaft from the differential output flange and secure it to the body with a wire clamp.
Knock out the rear axle gearbox flange with a mallet or a hammer with a plastic striker (fig. 14.17) and replace the retaining ring (1, Fig. 14.18) on the output flange of the rear axle gearbox.

Lubricate the mounting surface under the oil seal on the differential output flange with rear axle gearbox oil. Remove the oil seal using the "00.5.010" and "32.1.060/ 33.1.308" (fig. 14.19) from the gearbox.

Lubricate the crankcase flange and the working edges of the new seal with rear axle gearbox oil.
Using the "00.5.500" tool (fig. 14.20) and mandrels "33.4.240" ("188k") or "33.4.250" ("215k"), press in the new seal until it stops.

Insert the flange and turn it so that the splines of the flange and the differential gear engage. Press the flange until you hear the locking ring engage. Connect the drive shaft (half-axle) of the wheel to the output flange of the differential.
Install the locking plates (2, see Fig. 14.16) and secure the CV joint to the output shaft flange by tightening the new black bolts (M10x46) to a torque of 100 N·m (10.0 kgf·m), the new silver bolts – to a torque of 80 N·m (8.0 kgf·m).
Change the oil in the rear axle gearbox.
