Install tool on crankshaft «11.2.383» and screw a conical mandrel into it «11.2.380» (pic. 4.75), until it is firmly connected to the front oil seal in the timing cover.
Screwing the bolt on the fixture «11.2.380», remove the front oil seal from the timing case cover.
Before installing a new oil seal, lubricate its sealing lips with engine oil. Using fixture «11.1.220» (pic. 4.76) and rotating its central bolt, install the front crankshaft oil seal into the timing cover.
Replacing the rear crankshaft oil seal, on the automatic transmission side, must be carried out in the following order. Remove the gearbox, drain the oil from the engine and remove the drive plate. Remove bolts (arrows, fig. 4.77) fixing the engine oil sump from the side of the automatic transmission.
Remove bolts (8 pcs., arrows, see fig. 4.78) fixing the cover of the rear oil seal of the crankshaft.
Carefully detach the oil pan seal from the rear oil seal cover and remove the cover.
After removing the rear oil seal cover, check the oil pan gasket for damage. If necessary, remove the oil pan and replace the gasket.
Attention! The rear oil seal cover is supplied with the oil seal. If necessary, remove the oil seal and install a new one using the tool «11.1.230», equipped with fixture «00.5.500».
Check the correct position of the centering sleeves (arrows, fig. 4.79) and replace the seal.
On the corner joints of the parting plane with the oil sump, evenly apply a thin layer of sealant type «Drei Bond 1209».
Lubricate the crankshaft seating surface and the seal lips with engine oil, do not touch the edges with your hands. Install fixture «11.2.390» on the engine crankshaft. Install the cover with the stuffing box on the crankshaft, avoiding distortions, and carefully remove the tool «11.2.390».
Replace sealing washers under bolts (1, fig. 4.80), insert and tighten all M6 bolts securing the stuffing box cover to a torque of 10 Nm (1.0 kgf·m), M8 bolts (2) torque 22 Nm (2.2 kgf·m).
